Drowning in lies
With chronic depression, it's a struggle to stay afloat. Especially living in a culture that seems to celebrate lying.
Regular life is bad enough for people with severe depression like me. We’re often walking on a razor’s edge, and even small injustices can trigger meltdowns. And if you add in the barrage of lies and cheating we’re witnessing today, the result is a perfect storm of despair.
It’s not just political lying, which is depressing all by itself. It’s also crime and corruption behind the lies. Whatever illusions we’ve had about “intrinsic goodness” of human beings are being crushed by a new tidal wave of American depravity.
Today we live in a society that excuses — and sometimes even celebrates — pedophilia. That reality is unimaginably sad for me. It should be for you too.
This sick situation has become impossible for even MAGA extremists to ignore, though many will stay with Trump, no matter what. That is, they will stick with a president who has undeniably gone along with the raping young girls — and very likely participated in those acts himself. For evidence, read Trump’s disgusting love letter to Epstein one more time. It’ll make you want to vomit.
It’s looking more and more like members of Trump’s inner circle — Steve Bannon, Mike Johnson, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Prince Andrew, and even Erika Kirk — knew about Trump’s behavior and have been working together to protect him.
So what’s Trump’s response? According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, he told aides that his social connection to Jeffrey Epstein in the 1990s was in a “different time” and that people “don’t understand” what Palm Beach was like then.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember a time when it was it okay to rape little girls.
There are many reasons to despise the Trump regime, and many more to be depressed by what is happening to our country. But letting rapists and their enablers stay out of jail tops the list for me. It is the saddest commentary I can offer about the health of our society:
We are literally drowning in lies and the people in charge don’t care.
Will Trump get away with his crimes? I bet he will. And that’s going to be the most depressing thing of all.
Remember when right-wingers were spreading conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton being part of a pedophilia ring? They seem so much less concerned about that kind of thing now.
Thanks for speaking up about serious depression. I’m a fellow traveler.
